Multi-sensory Simulators - Text 2
One of these experiences is a motorcycle tour of New York City through traffic. The user obviously takes on the position of the driver, seeing the route with a subjective camera in three dimensions with a wide-angle field of view. The user hears in binaural stereo the sound of the motorcycle and of the cars around it and feels the vehicle’s bumps and vibrations on the seat, the grips and the footplate at their feet. They feel the wind on their face and on their entire body, and even smell the exhaust fumes.
The other experiences are just as evocative: an encounter with an Oriental belly dancer in surroundings scented by jasmine and hibiscus to the sound of a flute and small cymbals shaken to the left and right of the viewer; a visit to a Coca-Cola factory which puts the viewer in the position of a bottle; riding through sand dunes in a buggy; flying in a helicopter over Los Angeles; and a moment spent with a young woman in a convertible, on a bicycle, on a beach, and then in the seclusion of tall grasses in a sea breeze.
