Double, Accumulate - Text 2
In the same spirit, Nicolas Provost, in Papillon d’amour (2003), in this case using means specific to digital technology, doubles and slows down a brief sequence of a digital version of Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon (1950), transforming the woman’s supplication on her knees into a ghost-like variation of a serpentine dance suggestive of a butterfly spreading its wings or a chrysalis withdrawn into its cocoon.
