Portability - Text 2
The rapid growth of television prompted manufacturers to design better quality 16 mm cameras in tune with the needs of reportage with a reduced crew. Advertising for this equipment in the 1960s and 70s highlighted the autonomy and portability of shoulder-held equipment. Manufacturers also tried to meet the demands of sound and image synchronization with cameras said to be “self-blimping,” but synchronizing 16 mm cameras and sound recorders like the Nagra would not be complete for a few more years.
