Viewing - Text 6

Nevertheless, some people in charge of editing were not satisfied with these projectors and sought other solutions. This was the case with George McGuire (head of the editing department at Metro Pictures), who, in 1918, invented his own film viewer. In early 1924, the Eastman-Kodak laboratories ordered a prototype from two engineers in London, Newman and Sinclair. This prototype consisted of a table on which was attached a film viewer, built on the principle of a three times magnifying lens coupled to an automobile headlight. The film was advanced between the two by operating a pedal.
