Description
As he moved from newspaper editor for the New York Dramatic Mirror to scenario editor at Biograph to picture editor at Mutual, Frank E. Woods connects the latter role to each of the former functions. As he puts it at the begining of a Moving Picture World article from 1917, “The motion picture is a form of publication. It might well be called the celluloid press. It has its reporters, its authors and its editors. It also has its illustrators, its printers, its pressmen, its proofreaders and its newsdealers.”
