Digital transfer of motion picture film can either be an intermediate step of the photochemical process, or an end in itself. In the first case, the scanned film frames are “corrected” before being transferred back onto positive or negative film; otherwise, the digital frames are used as master elements to reproduce the film in as many formats as required.
