Other kinds of widescreen projection apart from Cinerama, such as CinemaScope (1953) and 70 mm Todd AO (1955) also used stereo sound systems. Hundreds of films were shown with multi-track sound (between three and six tracks) in movie theatres equipped for this, beginning in 1953.
