Notes on the Materiality of the Web Documentary - Text 1
To name the object, name its elements, name its techniques, name its means: to make it material (for thought). For the webdoc as object to reach us, a series of mediations of mediations is necessary, along with compressions of compressions and translations, transpositions and approximations of matter that is not matter but rather a complex ensemble of information. Thus a network of agents. Every media object lends itself to being scrutinized in this way. The webdoc can be seen as a documentary object (which must then recount its collecting of the real) which is networked (made of a multimedia ensemble circulating on and via the Web) and interactive (calling for interaction outside its system, but at the same time systematically taken into account).
