Of What Was the KMT a Prototype? - Text 3

The KMT was not the prototype of the Éclair 16, which was introduced only in October 1962. Just the same, the Éclair 16, which went into production in late 1963, met the needs of filmmakers and of television: it was lightweight, portable, easy to handle and at the same time equipped with a 120-metre film magazine and a reflex viewfinder, as the Arriflex (1937) and Cameflex reportage cameras already were. In order to meet the objectives of direct cinema completely, this camera also had to be silent in order for sound and image synchronization to be possible. In Méthode 1, we can hear the camera in operation.
