3D Modelling - Text 8
Conclusion
3D modelling offers a practical method similar to that of stop-motion filming, particularly when constructing a model requiring an internal structure, making possible both movement of the object and aesthetic choices. The shift from analogue to digital, however, altered numerous things. In the case of 3D modelling, through programming automation makes it possible to automate movements, particularly hierarchized movements, in the same model. This reduces the animator’s workload, as there is no longer any reason to modify every micro-movement of every character on every photogram throughout the film. In addition, this kind of modelling enables animators to make changes even after a final version of the audiovisual work is completed. This is possible because a digital object is made up of smaller objects with their own identity. In this way 3D modelling makes it possible to duplicate the model and to use it in diverse ways in the digital space, reducing the time spent constructing similar objects. In this sense it provides another way of employing stop-motion production methods.
