3D Modelling - Text 3
3D modelling takes up this principle, but adapts it to a medium and to languages from the field of information technology. In fact it is made up of a surface and a skeleton, each made up in turn of meshes, vertices and polygons, as well as rules and articulation points.
To construct the surface of a 3D model, one must begin by sculpting the shape of the desired object. To do so, one may physically create the sculpture and then digitise it, or use 3D modelling software such as Blender. When the (digital or physical) sculpture has been made, it must be covered with a mesh, or “a map that divides the surface of the model into squares of various sizes of square, according to where detail is needed”.[4]
