Patents and Prowess - Text 6

It was after the Great War, however, that the Akeley flourished on the market: in May 1920, then in October of that year for private companies. In 1921 it was made available to individuals for sale or rent. We have observed enormous interest in the Akeley from the mid-1920s to the 1930s, seen in classified ads for both sales and rental of the camera: individuals were renting their camera, or their services, or selling the camera or accessories, while others sought to buy one. From the mid-1930s to the early 1940s, however, there was a decline in interest, and one sees fewer ads by technicians looking for cameras, and fewer cameras for sale. Other Akeley “products” also appeared on the resale market, including the tripod, which was sometimes sold separately from the camera, and a new camera for shooting with synchronized sound.
