It was not until 1904 that Georges Mendel purchased Henri Joly’s synchronism patent (no. 296,067) and began to market a “synchronism” system, the “Cinémato-Gramo-Théâtre.” Issue number 765 of L’Industriel forain (2-9 April 1904) announced the great innovation: “Cinémato-Gramo-Théâtre or talking kinematograph, the latest scientific application of the phonograph to the kinematograph.”
