From a technical perspective, the use of the Akeley camera by Hollywood camera operators was based on constant technological innovation and on adapting the device to different situations in which it could be used. When shooting aerial scenes, for example, the operator was typically in an uncomfortable position above the camera. Some operators, in order to see what they were shooting, added a supplementary viewfinder, placed on the top of the camera.[11]
