The Opacity of Representations of 3D Scanning and Motion Capture in the Cinema - Text 15
These derivations associated since the 1980s with digital capture in the imaginary worlds laid out by these few films were back at the forefront in 2023 during the SAG-AFTRA strike in the form of AI’s effect on cinematic creation, especially for actors who are prisoners of technical equipment that is beyond their control. By simply suggesting the volumetry of an alienating capture by its own means, these filmic objects deliberately obliterate any concretely technological consideration in order to leave this equipment in the shadow of a threat which they appear to present for the film industry.
