The increasing darkness makes her body more and more indiscernable, subjected to these scanning lines which in the end define it, like Marey’s disfigured bodies, reduced to reflective strips positioned on their members, which in addition were dressed in black in order to bring out the joints. The body eludes the image, or rather “is seen eluding,” as suggested by the female character’s troubling joke, which compares this digital registration scrutinising her in an almost surgical manner to a kind of rape of her privacy.
