The Opacity of Representations of 3D Scanning and Motion Capture in the Cinema - Text 2
The visual heritage of these experiments is so strong, and so closely correlated with the roots of cinematography, that many films playing the card of a return to the medium’s historical and/or “ontological” origins have set out to depict them. Lana and Lilly Wachowski’s Speed Racer (2008), for example, makes the extraordinary speed of the vehicles felt in the final race-car sequence by means of walls decorated with galloping zebras which come to life through the effect of the rapidly passing decor.[1]
