Making Film Music Digitally: Temp Tracks and Mock-ups - Text 7
The shift in film music to digital technology has brought about significant change, both by increasing access to the practice and in the compositional approach (stem scoring,[19] computer skills, familiarity with recording technology, sound production). The art of film music remains subject to powerful constraints (constantly changing visual editing, temp tracks, tight budgets), but a sequence like that of Léandri demonstrates that it is always playful (with a number of intertextual musical references) and subtle (the delicate underscoring of the Reno/Léandri discussion, the synchronism of the foot hitting the ball and the music falling silent).
